The Tree
Smartilab/Miðnæti (Iceland)

The tree follows the story of Ari, a happy and kind boy who lives in a small town with his family. Outside their home is a lemon tree that has grown alongside the family for as long as anyone can remember. One Sunday as the whole family sits together in a yard  a powerful blast shakes their world. Both the house and the garden are destroyed. Ari is the lone survivor, along with the  lemon tree. He must journey across lands and seas in search of a sanctuary where his family's lemon tree can take root and thrive again.

This 45-minute children's show presents the reality of refugee children in a visual and age appropriate way, as the hero tries to protect his family tree and find a safe place where he can grow.
